I make functional and decorative handbuilt ceramics in a shared studio in Ottawa. I'm a self taught ceramist but I've found that the skills I learned during my study of and work in jewellery design has definitely informed my work in clay. I've also spent many years painting in acrylics and mixed media and designing textile pieces. Working in clay is fabulous because it's so receptive to a variety of surface design applications.
My mugs, bowls, plates, jars and spoons are delicate, highly decorated, textured, colourful and one of a kind. I love creating mixed media work as well. My diorama and sculpture combine clay with wood, paper, fabric and found object. I love making little animal figures too! I'm a member of the Ottawa Guild of Potters and I teach adults and children at the Glebe Pottery Studio. I sell my work at Bloomfield's in the Glebe and Hintonburg, the Hintonburg Pottery, the Guild spring and winter sales, 613flea and local popups. I love being able to share my work and to have opportunities to sell, talk to the public and create community with other artists and makers. |
